Real Focus ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Real Focus mobile application.

1. Important Permissions & Core Functionality

Real Focus requires several advanced system permissions to provide its core app-blocking and focus-tracking features. We prioritize your privacy by processing this data locally whenever possible.

A. Accessibility Service API

  • Usage: We use the Accessibility Service API to detect when a "blocked" app is opened in the foreground and to prevent Real Focus from being uninstalled during an active focus session.
  • Data Collection: This service is used strictly for technical blocking and system-level protection. We do not collect, store, or transmit any screen content, keystrokes, or personal interactions through this API.

B. Usage Statistics (Usage Access)

  • Usage: This permission allows the app to monitor which application is currently in use and for how long.
  • Data Collection: We monitor usage duration locally on your device to enforce "App Limits" and track "Pickups." Aggregated focus time (e.g., "Total Minutes Focused") is synced to your account, but specific details about which "unblocked" apps you use are never transmitted to our servers.

C. VPN Service (Internet Blocking)

  • Usage: Real Focus uses a local VPN service to drop data packets for selected apps during a focus session.
  • Data Collection: The VPN is entirely local. We do not route your internet traffic through external servers, and we do not monitor, log, or store your web browsing history or any data sent over the internet.

D. Notification Listener & POST_NOTIFICATIONS

  • Usage: We use Notification access to block distracting alerts from other apps during your focus sessions and to present a persistent "Focus Mode" status in your system tray.
  • Data Collection: We do not read or store the content of your notifications. The service strictly identifies the "sender" app to decide if the notification should be hidden.

E. NFC (Strict Mode)

  • Usage: Used to uniquely identify physical NFC tags for "Strict Unblocking" mode.
  • Data Collection: We store the unique tag identifier (UID) locally on your device or sync it to your secure account to verify the tag when you attempt to end a focus session early.

F. System Overlay (Draw Over Apps)

  • Usage: Used to display the "Blocked" screen over distracting apps.
  • Data Collection: No personal information is accessed or collected through the overlay system.

G. Device Administration & Boot Access

  • Usage: We use Device Admin access to provide optional "Uninstall Protection." We use Boot Access to ensure your focus schedules and protection layers are active immediately after your device restarts.
  • Data Collection: No personal data is collected through these permissions.

H. Precise Alarms

  • Usage: Used to start and end your Focus Schedules at the exact time you specified.
  • Data Collection: No personal data is collected.

2. Information We Collect

A. Account Information

If you sign in with Google, we collect your:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile picture URL (used for your in-app profile)
  • Unique User ID (UID)

B. App Configuration

To keep your experience consistent across devices, we sync:

  • Your customized Focus Schedules
  • Your Blocked App Lists
  • Your Focus Milestones and Streak history

C. In-App Purchases (Pro)

  • We use Google Play Billing and Apple App Store for all transactions. We do not store or process your credit card or bank details. All payment information is handled securely by the respective App Store.

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected information only to:

  • Provide the core app-blocking and scheduling features.
  • Sync your focus progress and settings across your devices.
  • Display your focus statistics and "Wins."

4. Data Sharing & Security

  • No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or app usage data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
  • Encryption: All data synced to our cloud (Firebase) is encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Local Processing: The majority of "sensing" (detecting app launches) happens entirely on your device and never leaves it.

5. Your Choices & Data Deletion

  • Permission Revocation: You can revoke system permissions at any time through your device settings (note: this will disable blocking features).
  • Account Deletion: You can request full deletion of your account and synced data by contacting us at the email below.
